Author Cutter-Sanborn Generator
A free web-based cataloging tool created to ease the technical processing of library collections by generating Cutter-Sanborn author numbers and formatted call numbers.
Supporting Library Cataloging Workflows
The Author Cutter-Sanborn Generator was created to support librarians, catalogers, and library staff in the cataloging process. Its main purpose is to generate Author Cutter-Sanborn numbers and properly formatted call numbers based on library standards used in processing library collections.
This tool helps reduce manual lookup from printed Cutter tables, promotes consistency in call number construction, and saves time during bibliographic and technical processing work.
The application is applicable for both Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) and Library of Congress Classification (LCC) call number formats.
